This is to enhance full separation of the maize’s starch from its protein so as to produce starch, gluten and even oil. The main aim of using a lot of water is also to prevent the maize from turning into powder.

The dry milling on the other hand is the most popular method used by many industries. This process produces a wide range of white and yellow maize products. The finished products are usually produced to meet the individual specification of a customer. The main categories of products include maize meal, maize bran, maize grits and maize flour. These are used in a variety of food stuffs such as snack foods, breakfast cereals, pet foods and baked goods. The by products derived from maize mill are corn oil which is used in salad dressings, syrups and can also be used as a source of fiber and starch in animal feeds.
